The announcement
The EBA's second-quarter risk dashboard, released on 25 September, described EU/EEA banks as having robust capital and liquidity. It reported a Common Equity Tier 1 ratio of 16.1% and a liquidity coverage ratio of 158.5%.
The non-performing loan ratio stood at 1.8%. The authority also highlighted geopolitical and macroeconomic uncertainty, and differences between countries and portfolios. The dashboard describes the sector rather than giving every bank an identical assessment.
What it means for account customers
That distinction matters when choosing an account. A positive aggregate result is useful background, but it does not identify the legal entity behind a product or explain its contractual protections.
Our view: keep institutional identity, account conditions and customer service in the comparison. A general sector dashboard cannot tell you whether an app fits your needs, what an overseas withdrawal costs or how an individual complaint would be handled. Strong averages should inform context, rather than replace product research.
