This policy explains what personal data may be processed when you use BankRanking Europe, why it may be processed, who may receive it and what rights you may have. Our approach is data-minimising: the website is currently a static comparison and information service, does not require user accounts and does not run first-party behavioural advertising or analytics in the present build.
Who this policy applies to
This policy applies to visitors of bankranking.eu, newsletter subscribers and people who contact BankRanking Europe directly. BankRanking Europe is a trading name used for bankranking.eu. The Operator is responsible for the website's editorial and commercial activity and for personal data processed directly for contact and newsletter purposes.
What data may be processed
Technical request information such as IP address, requested URL, time of request, browser/device information and security-related logs may be processed by hosting and network infrastructure.
The current site stores a local preference object in your browser so that cookie-setting choices can be remembered. This remains on your device unless cleared.
If you contact us, we may process your name, email address, message content and related correspondence so that we can respond and maintain appropriate business records.
If you subscribe, we process your email address, consent choice and subscription-confirmation records. The form sends this information directly to Brevo, which manages the subscriber list and double opt-in process on our behalf.
Where a link is later configured as a tracked affiliate link, the destination provider or affiliate network may receive referral, campaign or click information under its own privacy policy.
BankRanking currently does not create user accounts, maintain personal banking profiles or make automated decisions that produce legal or similarly significant effects about website visitors.

Who may receive data
BankRanking Europe is currently delivered through GitHub Pages. GitHub states that visitor IP addresses to GitHub Pages sites are logged and stored for security purposes. Brevo processes newsletter subscription information and delivers newsletter and confirmation emails on the Operator's behalf. Other recipients may include domain/DNS providers, email providers used for direct correspondence, professional advisers where necessary, and banks or affiliate networks when you independently follow an outbound link.
We do not sell a visitor database to advertisers. A commercial relationship with a bank or affiliate network does not by itself give that advertiser access to correspondence you send directly to BankRanking Europe.
Processing outside the EEA
Internet infrastructure and service providers may process information in countries outside the European Economic Area. Where BankRanking Europe itself appoints a provider that processes personal data internationally, appropriate transfer mechanisms should be used where required, such as an adequacy decision or contractual safeguards.
How long information is kept
We aim to keep personal data only for as long as reasonably necessary for the purpose for which it was collected, to maintain appropriate records, resolve disputes and meet legal obligations. Newsletter data is retained while the subscription remains active and may be retained for a limited period afterwards where necessary to document consent, withdrawal or suppression from further mailings. Browser-stored preferences remain on the device until the user clears them or the preference key is replaced. Hosting/security logs are retained according to the relevant infrastructure provider's policies.
Access, correction and control
Depending on the circumstances and applicable data-protection law, you may have rights to request access, rectification, erasure, restriction of processing, data portability, or to object to certain processing. Where processing is based on consent, consent can generally be withdrawn without affecting processing that was lawful before withdrawal.

Children's privacy
BankRanking publishes information about youth and children's banking products, but the website is not designed to collect personal information from children. We do not ask children to create accounts or submit financial profiles through the website.

We use a static-site architecture and minimise direct collection of personal data. No method of internet transmission or storage can be guaranteed to be completely secure, but we aim to limit data collection to what is proportionate to the service being provided and to use reputable infrastructure providers.
Updates to this policy
This policy may change when the website introduces new functionality, analytics, additional affiliate technology or a new operating entity. Material changes will be reflected by updating the date above and, where appropriate, providing additional notice or requesting consent.
